Event Description

Keb’ Mo’ is an acclaimed singer, guitarist, songwriter and three-time Grammy Award-winning blues musician. Described as "a living link to the seminal Delta blues that travelled up the Mississippi River and across the expanse of America,” Keb’ Mo’ is a modern blues master, known for his elegant performances and mixture of blues, soul, jazz and rock. His songs have been recorded by B.B. King, Buddy Guy, the Dixie Chicks, Joe Cocker and Robert Palmer, and his playing inspired leading instrument maker Gibson Brands to issue the Keb’ Mo’ Signature Bluesmaster acoustic guitar. He has collaborated and performed with everyone from Bonnie Raitt and Jackson Brown, to Cassandra Wilson, Buddy Guy and Little Milton.

A native of Los Angeles, Keb’ Mo’ began his career as a studio musician under his given name, Kevin Moore, in the mid-1980s. His first big break came a decade later, after performing in a blues combo with saxophonist Monk Higgins and guitarist Charles “Charlie Tuna” Dennis. This lead to his first solo, self-titled album in 1994, followed by a string of gold albums, Grammy nominations and critical acclaim.

This spring, Keb’ Mo’ released his twelfth full-length album, BLUESAmericana, marking the 20th anniversary of his debut release. The upbeat recording tells the story about who Keb’ Mo’ is as a musician. “My job is to look for something that’s truthful,” he says. “Lies are the hardest things in the world to remember, but the truth digs right inside me and it reaches other people, too. If a song is truthful, the way the songs on BLUESAmericana are, I have a piece of that song inside of me so I can always deliver it from my heart.”
