What kind of saxophone is this?

Hi!
Someone donated this sax to the school and would like an estimate for it. But, we have not been able to determine what exactly it is. Does anyone recognize what this is? Do you know its value?

Thanks!

It looks like a Martin C Melody from the Twenties.

Yes, Gregory is correct. This is an early vintage Martin Handcraft c-melody. Its probably not worth restoring unless you have sentimental reasons for doing so. Late 20's or early 30's vintage Conn c-melodies play much better and can be found very cheap. Best of Luck!!

One thing that's kind of interesting on this horn is the straight bevel on the toneholes, which is unusual on a Martin.  It's a style associated with Couturiere that has been regarded by some as diagnostic that certain stencils, such as Lyon & Healy, were produced by Couturiere rather than Martin.  Then there's this horn with Couturiere style toneholes and "Martin" stamped on it.  More mystery to rock the world of stencil geeks.....
