CgConn alto looking for help

a relative came across this and i was wondering what year it might have been made also if its worth restoreing, some pads are dried out aswell as springs are gone or not working, its tarnished the numbers i can read off of it are m144974 or it could be m444974 , theres a L under it asawell , any info would help

    The serial number is definitely 144974. This is a 1920's vintage Conn "Chu Berry" era C-melody. It appears to be in the original nickel plate.
         Unfortunately, c-melodies are not used anymore in modern day music. That's not to say nobody plays them. But given that hundreds of thousands were manufactured and they are still easy to find, the value is not very good. It also will most likely need all new pads/corks/felts before it will be playable. "As is" I would ascribe a value in the $100-$200 range. Restored, it could sell for around $700-$1000.
