SELMER Lacquer Super Balanced Action Alto (Serial Number: 41724) Back to model

This is an absolutely gorgeous Selmer Super Balanced Action alto saxophone, serial number 41724. This horn was made in the early 50's and still has over 99% of the original dark gold Selmer lacquer still intact. This is as mint as we have ever seen, a true closet horn.

The body is absolutely perfect with NO dents or previous dentwork of anykind. There are NO resoldered posts or keyguards. This horn spent its entire life in the closet.

This alto has the original Selmer metal resonator pads and they are amazingly in like new condition. The horn is playing great with the original Selmer setup. The neck is perfect as is the original Selmer Chesterfield case.

The engraving is especially ornate with floral patterns covering the bell and bottom bow.

This saxophone has the rich, wide sound of an old Selmer, with the improvements in feel and intonation of a Mark VI. To see and play one in this remarkable original condition is a real treat. This is a rare and truly beautiful instrument.
