C.G. CONN Nickel Plate Chu Berry (Serial Number: 192220) Back to model

Here is a fantastic vintage Conn Chu Berry tenor sax, serial number 192220. This horn is unique in the fact that is an original nickel plated tenor. The guys at Saxquest say that in their experience nickel plated Chu's have a certain rich warmth not always found on other Chu's, and this horn is no exception.

The sax is in incredible condtion physically. The original nickel plating stands at over 95% intact. The only wear is found mainly on a couple touch points. And boy has this horn been well cared for! There are no dents, dings, resolders, or any signs of past damages or repairs. Even the original neck is in top shape with just minor finish wear. The sax does have all the greats of the this vintage of Conn, including rolled tone holes and the fingernail file G# key.

This tenor has a lightning fast response, and really responds immediately to the player's airstream. It has a nice spread characteristic to the sound, with a warm core tone. While it does have a certain lulling, almost hypnotic, feature, it does also manage to generate quite a bit of sound when pushed. It truly is a great player.
