SELMER Lacquer Radio Improved (Serial Number: 19884) Back to model

This is an incredible playing early vintage Selmer Paris “Radio Improved” tenor saxophone, Serial Number 19884, manufatured in 1934. It is in outstanding condition for a horn of this vintage. The finish shows standard play wear but is overall quite nice. Its body shows no signs of ever receiving any major dents or other body work. The bell flare, body tube, bow and original neck are all in great shape and have never been seriously damaged during the life of the horn.

This tenor was recently given a full overhaul in 2011 in the Saxquest shop by top sax tech George Bunk. The Saxquest professional overhaul features a new set of leather Valentino pads, metal domed resonators, new corks, felts and an extremely thorough key regulation. This horn has a superbly positive feel under the fingers and has an amazingly fast response. It plays with a warm free blowing sound, definitely on the darker side of the color spectrum. If you dig that early Selmer free blowing sound and response this is a horn you will absolutely want to check out. Usually we find these horns in very rough shape, this one is in particularly nice shape making it an excellent example of a Selmer vintage Super!
