Synthetic Reeds

I have always used cane reeds, but I tried a synthetic reed and it seems to tear up my lower lip. Is this because it is so new to my embouchure or is this just me? Thanks Mactenor

Since I see no response to my question, I guess that it is a personal problem with me. Best Regards Mactenor

      Re: Synthetic Reeds

I just can't imagine using a synthetic reed! lol! However, I can imagine it could be an issue on the lip--but why? Some people might be allergic to the synthetic materials used, as some people are allergic to latex.

I just switched to synthetic reeds too. I had this same problem too but just keep playing on them and your mouth will get used to it. Rudy

I've used a couple of synthetic reeds, never had a problem.

There are lots of different synthetic reeds available, and they are all different. So some might "work" on your lips, others donĀ“t. jazz band berlin
