Mother-of-Pearl Plating???

I saw a Conn sax on Ebay with a description claiming it was mother-of-pearl plated. Did Conn really make a sax like that? Is that possible?

There is no mother-of-pearl plating. There are mother-of-pearl key touches. What you have is someone selling a sax who has no idea what anything is other than it`s a saxophone. Is there a photo of that horn? Anyway, it sounds like it`s not being sold by a saxophone player.

There were some horns that were actually painted, though I'm not sure with what, and I'm not sure Conn did that.

Regarding Conn and painted finishes: Conn offered enamel painted finishes for a brief time in the late 1920's. They were not popular, and this finish option was quickly dropped. Most examples I have seen are in pastel colors of dark pink, blue etc. and quite ugly in my opinion.
