I always recommend 2 contrasting Ferling Etudes (one whole page) and one whole baroque transcription. This will accurately demonstrate the student's grasp of basic technical/artistic skills. To this day, I've never heard a high school student play Creston/Glazounov/etc worth the time they probably spent on it. Sad that this is still recommended for college auditions. Angel
