My main horn is the alto. I just love the vocal quality of it. Benny Carter, Johnny Hodges, Paul Desmond are among my influences. Of course my teacher Lee Konitz.

i tried bari once. i would have liked it better if i had more time to practice it and if i wasn't already in love with the alto. i haven't met a saxophone i didn't like and i would love to try playing them all!

My favorite saxophone is the bass saxophone becuase i just fell in love with it in the Mummers. it has a niice dark deep sound to it, but it can also play some high notes. I'm playing an old C.G.Conn bass with 50xxx, the old horns sound the best with basses

i tried a curved soprano circa 1920 that my boss had finished repairing--couldn't get a solid note out for the life of me! but i appreciate soprano sax music!

Tenor. It's more mellow than alto, but I feel it has more energy than the bari (although this also depends on which brand and model you have). I dunno...I just love it,lol. I played alto for 3 years, then switched to tenor when I got to high school. It's just my instrument I guess. I like all of them though.

This cuber fellow is right on the money. You cant go wrong with the bari, especially with a metal mouthpiece, it's the greatest sound in the world.

Re: What's your faveorite type of sax

I've been playing a metal Bari Birlhardt Mouthpiece on Bari and Bass Sax. Such a wonderful sound, even blows freely marching down the street and gives the horn a great intonation when adjusting your emberchure. (hope i spelled everything right) Try a G.C.Conn Bass Saxophone You don't own it, It owns you
