OK, Saxcolossus54 is right, that IS stupid. Besides, I am the only alto saxophone in the high school band. The only other person who plays my part is a guy on the mellophone who, he's sweet and smart and funny and all, but he... um... doesn't play on the right octave. The last thing I need is a mute.

Bubble rap? If this is a joke it's really not funny.

No joke. I use some of the small-bubble type folded over once and rolled into a ring, then taped so it holds it's shape. About the size of half a pop can, but hollow through the middle. Sits just at the top of the bell and warms the tone by taking the highest harmonics off the top. If you put it too far down in the bell, your low Bb goes to low A. It's a subtle difference, but a pleasant one. Haven't tried this on my other horns yet, but I'm sure it would have the same effect. Makes a good conversation piece to boot!

Sounds cool. Just be careful with tape because it can maybe pull the laq off and if you try to take the tape of with certain stuff it may act as a solvent and delaq part of your horn.

Clear packing tape. The tape is used only for the bubble wrap to retain it's shape. It is not stuck to the horn.

We are going to list in on ebay pretty soon as a store demo model, but the thing is friken brand new and hasnt even been tested out that much. Email me if you are interested - its cheap, I can say that - under the bluebook for a used one.
