helmke tenor saxophone

does anyone have any information on helmke, they've been on ebay, and i want a tenor for my own. i've always played on the one the school lent me, but since i graduated, all i have is the bass sax. i cant afford much and the helmke is looking really good, unless its a piece of poop. i would really appreciate any info on this german brand

Poop, indeed. Better off spending the same money on a used YTS23 (and I have one for sale) or a Bundy II. Just be careful as eBay is full of "landmines" or horns that need more money for repair than for the horn itself.

Helmkes have a very poor reputation for reliability and intonation, as do a large number of low-cost taiwaneese and chinese made instruments. For the money you'd spend on a new Helmke, it shouldn't take much more to purchase a used bundy, yamaha, or a selmer made buescher.
