Buescher True Tone Tenor Saxophone

I was looking at e-bay the other day and I found a Buescher True Tone Tenor saxophone. It was at a bid of $29.00. The saxophone looked great from the pictures. I question the deal as to why it is going so cheap. I have heard many great things about these vintage saxophones. I want to know if this is a good buy. Also, I want to know if Buescher is great for jazz and classical and maybe popular music. The serial number is 28310. Thanks.

Those are nice saxophones, can play jazz and pop, just have to match it with the right mouthpiece. I am sure it will end at a much higher price.

You realize that you're responding to a 10 year old post, right?

There's a whole range of ages and designs that come under the "True Tone" label, and many of them have drawbacks rendering them obsolete.  The example in the lead post is one of the obsolete ones, from 1916.  The ones worth owning from a player's standpoint begin around 220,000, circa 1926.
