Absolute beginner: two questions

Which reed thickness should I start?
Which book would be helpful to learn?
(No local teachers. Could do skype lessons.)
Just bought used 1960 Conn tenor sax (bought on eBay after watching video demonstration of how well I might be able to play it someday), with Selmer C* MP

    Rico royal 2 1/2 was good for me way back when. Also, The Universal Method for saxophones was, and is, a good reference book.

    Just a couple of suggestions.
