Help choosing first alto sax

I live in the UK and have seen an alto for sale in Costco advertised as an Arbiter Prosound Jazz II. Have been advised the Jazz II is an OK student model and the price was good. When I went to buy it the instrument they were advertising as a Jazz II turned out to be made by R S Berkeley - not sure what model but probably the most basic. Don't think R S Berkeley distribute to UK as a norm so can't find any info. Does anyone know anything about these instruments? Looking for a very good value but good sounding student model. I'm a fulltime student and fulltime mum so money is an issue - want a bargain but don't want to buy complete crap either. Hope you can help?
