Difference in weight.

My YTS 62 purple logo tenor in considerably heavier than my friends YTS 62 purple logo? Does anyone know how two seemingly identical horns would weigh differently?

Wow, this is very interesting! Have you actually weighed the two to determine the actual difference. The purple logo was an early itteration of the Yamaha 62, I wonder if they were experimenting with guage of metal for the tube, bell or neck? Are all key guards, braces, etc..... the same? I'll see if my repair guys have any insights. Great question!!!

Mark, I haven't weighed the two tenors but he and I can both feel an obvious difference. His is the lighter of the two plus his tenors response is better than mine, although his horn is functioning on the older original pads. My tenor was overhauled with you guys a little over a year ago and plays great as well. You may have met my friend's tenors original owner here in St. Augustine when you were here.....Bill Glenn
