Conn Stencil ID,Drawn holes,L hnd nailfile,#51507 alto

This alto has a micro tune neck, 0/80 post, wire tonehole guards w/ wrap around soldiered felt holders, Pat'd Sept 14 1915 # 1153489 A 51507 L any help on ID of this horn will be welcomed. I want to rebuild if this is one of those sleeper horns from the day with big sound. Thanks, Mike

    Well first of all, what is the stencil name on the horn? Without that and a few pics, it is high near impossible to identify anything beyond what you've provided. The Serial number is of little use, since Conn's date/serial number timeline doesn't apply to their stencil horns.

      The stencil says, CONTINENTAL made in USA, it has 7 flagpoles, with an eagle on the center one. The centerpiece has the logo and a pic of north america. I'll try to get some pics to you soon. Is there any other ID characteristics I can look for in the mean time? Mike

        That would be a Conn stencil made in the early 1920's.

          Yes, if it has the nail file G# it would be a later model, 1925-1932. Basically, a New Wonder series II or Chu Berry stencil only without the rolled tone holes.
