Dave Guardala (awesome)

G'day My beloved brand Dave Guardala has recently ceased production, and I was just wondering if anyone here used the mouthpieces or saxes. I Use a 501Bn Tenor, which you can see a pic of at this link- saxophones.co.uk/index2.html If you own a DG sax or mouthpiece I'd really like to hear any opinions on them. I love my big black tenor :-)

the mouthpieces are being (poorly) reproduced and are available again. They are not the famed hand finished setups that DG is known for. Dave Guardala saxes were made by B&S in Germany and are available under the B&S medusa line.

I've been playing a Guardala 'Traditional' gold plate since about '84. I picked it up at his shop in New York, stopped by and tried a bunch. The Studio played great, but was to bright for me. The gold plated traditional sounded smoother, rounder than the silver plate- so I spent the extra cash and bought that one. Still play it exclusively, works great on my Ref 36. mark
