traveling

I have a Selmer Super Action Series II Tenor from 1990 with one of the super-heavy wooden Selmer cases and the leather cover. I'm going to New York in 6 months to play at Lincoln Center (I live in Los Angeles). I'm pretty sure the sax will be fine, but does anyone have any experience with the case getting messed up? Should I invest in a hard plastic travel case?

If you have the standard wooden case, you'll likely have to check it as baggage- definitiely not a good idea. I'd think about a Walt-Johnson type flight case for your horn that you can carry on. And I'd look for a fiberglass case, not plastic-- too soft. Good luck.
