Baking an old finish on raw brass

I read a discussion thread from several of the members who were discussing the idea of adding an aged patina to older saxes by heating them in the oven, after removing the laquer. The posts will definitely fall off under high heat. I know, I've done it when trying this on a student line YAS 23. Low heat for a little while... maybe, but never use high heat in the levels of 300 degrees.
