How to identify a Meyer mouthpiece
Hi all,
I picked up my alto sax recently to continue learning, not having played for about 10 years. In about 1993 or 94 I bought a Meyer mouthpiece which the dealer said was supposed to be a good one. I'm trying to figure out which model it was, to help me decide whether to keep using it or get a new one. The markings on it have since faded, so I can't tell by looking at it. I've included some images, if that helps.
In addition, how would I know if a mouthpiece still works as it should, and it's response is still good ? It seems OK, but the reason I ask is that I have started practicing overtones and can't yet get the 4th overtone or above.I'd like to be sure my equipment isn't contributing to my difficulties. BTW, my reed & mouthpiece setup does pass the "pop" suction test.
Thanks,
Chris
