12M Bari Sax

My neighbor who is quite old has a lovely bari sax that belonged to her late husband.

She would like to know if its valuable or if it's just something to be donated.

It's in excellent condition with the exception of needing new pads. And it has it's original case. I'd be happy to send pics if it helps.

Thanks!

    Re: 12M Bari Sax

This looks to be a 1960s variation of the Conn 12M.

The older ones from the 1930s up to around 1950 ish are the ones that have value.

The older ones are the more valuable. They get cheaper made the newer they are.

The ones with the nickel plated keys are from the time frame when Conn was struggling to compete with the highly superior horns coming from Selmer Paris.

There is a serial number list under saxolphone museum on this page to give you the exact manufacture date. It would be an M series under naked lady.

    Donate it NO!!

If it has the neck, I would say in the 1200 range is a good value.

Sell it on Ebay or Craigslist.

Shipping is a bear for the big horn.

    Good Luck.
