KING Zephyr Special - Lacquer/Sterling Neck (Serial Number: 209917) Back to model

Here is a nice example of an early vintage King Zephyr Special tenor saxophone, serial number 209917. This instrument is in remarkable condition and is an incredible player.

THis specimen has about 95% original lacquer remaining. There are no dents, dings, or resolders to be found. The sax does have pearl inlay on nearly all of the key touches, and features sunburst engraving on all bottom bow and bell key cups, not just low B & Bb as on later Kings. The original neck is sterling silver with double socket reciever and matching serial number.

This sax was overhauled in the Saxquest shop in2009 by repair expert, George Bunk.

This one is a real ripper of a horn. The response on this sax is huge, extremely full and very commanding. It plays with a slightly spread characteristic, with a nice edge that really allows you to be heard easily.
