DO NOT USE SAXOPHONE PAD SAVERS. My repair tech says that the little hairs that come off the saver cling onto the pads and ruin the seal, I had some work done on one of my horns a while ago and he said he cleaned the cups and pads, afterwards the horn played just as good as when i first bought it.

Pad savers are a good idea in concept but not in practice. Buy yourself a silk sax swab and be sure to swab your sax EVERY TIME after you use it, sometimes even twice. This will eliminate the moisture in the sax. Pad savers will actually hold the moisture against the pads if the sax is not thoroughly swabbed before hand. I have not heard about the fibers comming off but I would believe it. Avoid pad savers, use a silk swab instead. Tim
