The Martin-committee1 and2

I have never played one of these but the design is beautiful. Is there some reason that you don't see them in the hands of name players? Are the two committee models both "The Martin"Do they have modern keywork and how is the intonation?I am asking because I have seen several altos and tenors for sale lately and I need a more powerful horn to compiment my Yani 880.

Art Pepper and Tex Beneke played The Martins. As for keywork, it's among the most ergonomic of the vintage horns. As for sound, they are as good as anything ever made. Just don't expect it to be like a Selmer or the other modern horns. However, I find the key positions to be good. I own a The Martin Alto, and I think it's a great horn. It has balls.
