I just sold one for $450 and thought for the money it was actually pretty nice. Most advanced players may not like them, but as a starter horn you should do well. If it's a standard model or Cadet (or is it Collegiate?...I can't remember the name) it's worth anywhere from $250 to $650 (in my opinion). Other versions may be worth a little more. General repairs might cost $150 - $200. A full overhaul will go for about $400-$500. So if you get the horn as a gift and put in the cash it needs it's a pretty good deal. But if it's all dented, rusty and stinky don't bother. You'll spend more than its value. Good luck.
