KING Voll-True (1928-1932)

H.N. White Voll-True

The Voll-True Model was a design based on the "King" H.N. White saxophone, featuring twenty-two improvements over the previous model (22 times better), including changed tone hole location on lower stack, and octave modifications in order to incorporate the larger chamber mouthpiece. King developed this model based on professional players complaints about register tuning and efficiency. The horn was then built from the new mouthpiece requirements. Because Henderson White only employed skilled artist-craftsmen they offered several different finishes for the new Voll-True: Finish I: Brass Highly Polished, Finish II: Silver Plated with Gold Bell, Finish III: Silver body with Gold Bell and Keys, Finish IV: Gold Plated with Stain Finish.

The White Way News advertised the Voll-True as a horn that offers improvements to the players abilities.

1. Because you can play absolutely in perfect tune with a minimum effort even under unfavorable circumstances
2. All tones from low Bb to high F are equal in their responsiveness and ease of blowing; this is particularly noticeable on Low C, B and Bb which are usually hard to attack pianissimo
3. The forked Eb in lower register is exceptionally resonant and clear
4. Both middle and high A are free from the slightest trace of stuffiness
5. The middle and high C-sharp are especially fine in volume, quality and tone
6. The action is the lightest, fastest and most trouble-free with the brown pad of lasting quality of which we were the originators

The Voll-True came with King's Equa-Tru mouthpiece which had a modified window to accommodate for the larger chamber. The Voll-True also featured H.N. White's New Rocker Pad, which had a silver disk resonator, always adjusting itself perfectly to the socket, eliminating all chance of leaks distorting the tone. Besides this, the silver disk adds more volume to the tone with greater resonance.
