BRILHART Designed by Arnold Brilhart (1934-)

The "Designed by Arnold Brilhart" vintage mouthpieces were the first saxophone mouthpieces put into production by Brilhart.  Generally you can find them with a four digit serial number.  We happen to have pictures of a Hard Rubber Bari piece with a three digit serial number.  This is the earliest that we have ever seen.  These Brilhart's are generally great pieces, and they are quite rare.  Brilhart was producing these mouthpieces in New York, and the shanks are all stamped "Great Neck, NY", and have the facing at the bottom of the table, right above this "Great Neck, NY" stamping.  Eventually Brilhart changed to putting the facing on the back of the mouthpiece, not that it really matters.  Brilhart facings are incredibly inconsistant, and are pretty much all over the place.

Charicteristics of Designed by Arnold Brilhart:

  • "Designed by Arnold Brilhart" stamped on back of barrel
  • "Arnold Brilhart Great Neck, N.Y." stamped on shank under table
  • Facing number stamped on bottom of table
  • Serial number to the right of table
  • Model(Tonalite, Streamline, etc.) stamped on shank on some models

Typically these mouthpieces are most commonly found in hard rubber form.  We have pictures of a clear Tonalite alto mouthpiece, and a Streamline hard rubber tenor.  These are both very rare mouthpieces.
